Our justice system is meant to stand for truth and accountability — yet a 1970s-era ruling in Imbler v. Pachtman still protects prosecutors and judges from facing consequences, even when they knowingly cause harm. 💔

To understand what makes our country great, scholars point to more than just the Bill of Rights; it’s the system of checks and balances that keeps our government in line. Our founders, who were business owners, lawyers, and educated thinkers, knew that absolute power corrupts absolutely. They believed we are not subjects to a king but self-governed people, and from 1776 until the 1970s, our government upheld a system where public officials, like cops, district attorneys, attorney generals, and judges, were held accountable for their actions. ⚖️

But Imbler v. Pachtman disrupted this. Now, qualified immunity shields those in power, even when they use tactics like charging people with crimes that were never committed or for which there’s no evidence — forcing individuals to endure financial, personal, and emotional hardship, only to find they cannot sue or seek justice against those who falsely accused them. And if a judge’s rulings are overturned over 50% of the time, it’s not just an injustice to the person affected but to taxpayers funding these failures. 🧑‍⚖️

So many of us are already stretched thin, juggling jobs, family, finances, and everyday stresses. It’s hard to find the time and energy to focus on these issues when there are so many competing demands. But that’s exactly what some people in power count on — that we’ll be too busy or overwhelmed to notice when our freedoms are chipped away. We can break this cycle. They are not a King, they are not a Queen, and they are accountable just as anyone else in this country is. Unfortunately, people with narcissistic like traits tend to be attracted to positions of leadership in both private and public sectors, thinking that they are above the law and the law doesn’t apply to them. This needs to change and a can change !  Take this feeling of unease, know that it can be redirected and use that to say these are the things that I’ve done about it because I felt it was such an injustice and act🇺🇸
